This week Lyla, one of our enthusiastic prep students, took over as Head for the Day, with her friend Lilly as Deputy Head.  This special occasion was marked by a series of engaging activities chosen by the pair throughout the day.

Lyla was chosen via a school raffle where students could buy raffle tickets to be in with a chance of becoming head for the day.

Lyla began her day by leading the morning assembly, which included a spirited rendition of her favourite hymn and an Disney quiz that was enjoyed by both students and staff. Lyla also decided on a non-school uniform day, much to the delight of her peers.

In addition to these activities, Lyla chose White Chocolate Cookies as the snack of the day, ensuring everyone enjoyed a delicious treat. She and her deputy also met with Martyn Gamble, the Bursar, and Jane Gandee, the Senior School head, discussing various aspects of school life and sharing her insightful perspectives. After the meeting with Martyn, the pair decided that two large outdoor blackboard should be bought using the money raised. It will be installed outside the prep school for all the pupils to enjoy.

Liz Norris, Head of St Swithun’s Prep School, praised Lyla's efforts, stating, "Lyla showed remarkable leadership and creativity throughout the day. She put a lot of thought into her decisions on the day and brought a wonderful energy to our school community."

Reflecting on her experience, Lyla shared, "Being Head for the Day was an amazing experience. I loved leading the assembly and making decisions that made everyone happy. It was so much fun!"
